A Warning To House Owners

A word of warning!

As of January 2005 all domestic electrical work must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations. This means that the majority, but not all domestic work must be notified to the Building Control Department of your Local Authority and carried out by a 'Competent Person'.

The work requires inspecting and testing during and on completion of the installation and a certificate confirming compliance with the regulations should be given to you. If you are not issued with a 'Part P Building Regulation Compliance' certificate on completion of notifiable work, you and your installer are breaking the law. This leaves you both open to prosecution and you potential problems when selling your home or securing insurance or a mortgage against the property in the future.

For you own peace of mind make sure your electrician is Part P registered.
